i) Dreams of Yesterday
Long ago and far away from here
There lies a kingdom free from strife and fear
Can you see it? I think you can
It lies inside a simple man
A little shack and wife to call my own
Our noble King and Queen upon their throne
In the valleys the sun shines on fields full of grain
Whilst in the cities the mercheants add to their worldly gain
Dreams of Yesterday
When younger men would say
"Tomorrow will bring a better day"
Today I'll rise at dawn to mind the store
Just like my dad and his dad would before
Satisfaction in doses too small to send me towards the door
Contemplation of life's little ways of telling you you can't be more
Dreams of Yesterday
When wiser men would say
"Tomorrow will bring a better day"
ii) Nobility
Dreams of Yesterday
When wiser men would say
"Tomorrow will bring a better day..."

...and you know it will
because you've seen them building castles on the hill
full of golden stairways laced with fancy frill
Can you see it? I don't think you can
Contemplate, concentrate,
attempting to assess the state of the day
Wide awake in the morning sun
watch them high-born ladies have their fun today
See myself ten years from now
be standing here in the same old place as today
Look back now on what I've called life
you can see there's just a few things I might need today
Noble thoughts and noble deeds
originate in Nobility--I'm told
But when I go down to the market square
I find the things we all were meant to share have been sold
I don't know what you've been told
but I'm finding out my heart's not made of gold (x3)
Seeing things now all too clear
I've got to free my mind from this senseless fear...
...and reclaim...
Those Dreams of Yesterday
When wiser men would say
"Tomorrow will bring a better day"
