A Long Way To Go

Monday morning, six o'clock,
I greet the dirty snow
Mom looks down and smiles at me
says, "Son, don't spoil the show.
Today's the day you become grease
and let those big wheels flow."
Traffic backed up for an hour how was I to know?

I don't wanna go
Lord say it ain't so
Why does life always move so slow?

Pour myself into a cup of steaming, scalding brew
Pick me up, calm me down change my point of view
Driving on your Freeways
Sitting on your subways
Fear with me always

Standing by the water fountain men are looking cool
Haven't heard so much bullshit since I got out of school
"Ain't it great how it pays?"
"Thank God for Fridays."
"Sex in the hallways? Let's Go!"

I don't want to know.
I don't want to go.
I just want to know how to save myself.
I just want to know how to survive.

Man becoming grease
Spilling out of turnstyles spinning spineless human mess
Bound for home with "Down Syndrome" and job related stress.
Sitting on your subways
Driving on your freeways
Seems like we've a long ways to go.
