Sailor Man and Me

Sailor Man and Me
We spent a thousand days out on the great salt sea
Awaiting patiently the fairest wind of all
To return summertime's haughty pride comes before the fall

Sailor Man and Me
We like to get real drunk and pass out in the street
It makes us feel like men to be so far from home
Never more happy than when we can do as when in Rome

On the fourteenth day
We lit a candle which we thought would light the way
But in the gaining gloom our senses were deceived
We had learned that the world was not as we had once perceived

In my mind there will come a time
When all crime will be turned into rhyme
And I like to make light of his crime
'Cause it takes my mind back to a time
   I once knew

Somewhere in my past
There lies a question I don't have the guts to ask
And so I send it out upon a pleasant cruise
Far away as if I still might have something left to lose

This, my island home
